Now, I used to have one when I was about 10 years old. My parents had spent a lot of money on it and I received it as a Christmas present. As soon as the snow cleared up I used to be outside for hours racing it up and down the street http://www.blogger.com/img/blank.giflike there was no tomorrow. We were literally inseparable. However, as I grew older and became more interested in sports at school and started to socialize further with friends, I played with the toys a lot less. My friend on the other hand explained how he was heavily involved in the cars and has been for a couple of years now - apparently a lot has changed since I used to drive the car up and down my street.
He explained that he and many other dads and lads of all ages meet up to race their cars at special events. The formalities and procedures mimic that of real racing events, however they remain light-hearted. He said the great thing about it, is you are able to bring your childhood memories to life and relive those favourable times you had when you were younger. Often it can be seen as a hobby and a bit of closure on times past. It is basically a safer alternative of enjoying racing and even an inexpensive choice too.
Suddenly I was really excited and I could not wait to go shopping for a new remote control car. I literally felt like I was 10 again! I asked him for a list of events which detailed the specific requirements and restrictions that need to be adhered to if you are going to race. I would then be able to look through it to determine what kind of race I would prefer to be involved in and also which car I would need to buy. There were so many different types of races, such as; races by scale, circuits, rallies, electric only and off-road.
It took me a while to decide but I think I am going to enter for the electric only circuits as that was similar to the car that I had when I was younger. Now I just have the task of browsing through the shops looking at a selection of fast cars!
